Michelle Obama and her brother Craig Robinson have joined the roster of keynote speakers at the second edition of SXSW London, which runs June 1-6.
The former First Lady and Robinson, executive director of the National Assn. of Basketball Coaches, will host a live recording of their podcast “IMO With Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson” on June 2.
Katy Arnander, SXSW London’s chief programming officer, said: “At its heart, SXSW London is a platform for some of the most influential voices shaping culture, business and society. What makes it special is the way it brings those worlds together, creating a space where they can converge in real time. Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson’s involvement reflects that ambition perfectly.”
“Her influence extends far beyond politics, spanning media, education, health and community leadership, and her impact cuts across industries, audiences and generations.”
“At a time when people are looking for more open conversations about the challenges shaping our society, this is exactly the kind of dialogue the festival exists to create.”
In the podcast, Michelle Obama and Robinson “bring their unique experiences and candid perspectives to a range of listeners’ personal dilemmas, from the everyday to the existential,” according to a statement.
“Each week, they’re joined by special guests to tackle audience questions with practical advice, relatable anecdotes, and plenty of laughs. From dating and relationships to parenting and financial planning, ‘IMO’ sees the iconic First Lady at her most relaxed and honest. This podcast will leave you laughing, reflecting, and feeling more prepared to tackle life’s challenges.”
Other speakers at this year’s event include “Avengers: Doomsday” directors Anthony and Joe Russo, Spice Girl Mel B and British kings of light entertainment Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, better known as duo Ant and Dec.
SXSW London’s inaugural year welcomed more than 25,000 attendees from over 85 countries. Its program is composed of separate strands for Conference, Music, Screen and Visual Arts.
