“Hacks”
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Updated: April 30, 2026): The powerhouse that is Michelle Pfeiffer is going to have multiple shots on goal this Emmy season.
An Emmy nominee for the 2017 television movie “The Wizard of Lies” in supporting actress (limited/movie), the 67-year-old star is mounting one of the most significant television years of her career. She’ll be in the hunt for her first lead drama actress nod for her work as the matriarch of Taylor Sheridan’s neo-Western “The Madison” on Paramount+. She’s also a standout of David E. Kelley’s critically acclaimed dramedy “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” playing the mother of Elle Fanning — a turn that opens up a separate lane in the supporting comedy actress race.
That puts Pfeiffer in direct conversation with reigning champion Hannah Einbinder, who could land another nod (and win?) for the final season of HBO Max’s “Hacks.” She’ll also need to fend off the consistent double-dipping from the educators of ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” — Season 1 winner Sheryl Lee Ralph and Janelle James. The talented Jessica Williams brought the goods in the latest season of Apple’s “Shrinking,” and veteran performer Laurie Metcalf is shaping up as another potential double-nominee across multiple series, with her highest-profile play coming in Dan Levy’s dark comedy “Big Mistakes” on Netflix.
All official category submissions have yet to be confirmed, and the field could shift before the end of the eligibility cycle.
The Emmy Awards timeline begins with nomination-round voting from June 11-22, with nominations announced on July 8. The final voting runs from Aug. 17-26, leading into the Creative Arts Awards and Governors Gala on Sept. 5–6, culminating with the Emmy Awards ceremony on Sept. 14 on NBC.
