Amazon MGM Studios has set a film trilogy adaptation of romance author Ana Huang‘s best-selling sports series, “Gods of the Game.”
The book series follows an inter-connected series of steamy romances within the high-powered world of English Premier League soccer. Amazon has landed the rights to develop three films based on the two already released books, “The Striker” and “The Defender,” as well as the upcoming third book, “The Keeper,” which will debut in October.
The “Gods of the Game” films will be produced for Amazon MGM Studios by Premeditated Productions’ Liz Pelletier and Sherryl Clark under the company’s first-look film and television deal with the studio, where Premeditated is currently adapting “Fourth Wing,” “Dragon Cursed” and “A Stage Set for Villains.”
Jackie Levine and Rachel Ghiazza will produce the “Gods of the Game” films for Audible, which distributed the audiobook version of the “Gods of the Game” book series through its indie marketplace platform, Audiobook Creation Exchange (ACX) platform. Huang and Audible’s Marshall Lewy are executive producers. Premeditated’s Cayla Tyne will oversee development of the project.
Best known for her “Twisted Love” romance novel series, which is currently being adapted for TV at Netflix, Huang has published 15 books across four series to date and sold more than 27 million copies of her books worldwide. Huang is set to publish two more books this year: “King of Gluttony,” the sixth book in her “Kings of Sin” series, on April 28, followed by “The Keeper,” the third book in the “Gods of the Game” series, on Oct. 10.
Huang is repped by IAG, Kimberly Brower at Park, Fine and Brower Literary Management, Jill Fritzo PR and Granderson Des Rochers, LLP.
