Hull FC head coach John Cartwright to leave Super League club at end of season | Rugby League News


Hull FC head coach John Cartwright will leave the club at the conclusion of the 2026 Super League season.

Cartwright was appointed by the Black and Whites ahead of the 2025 campaign. Hull FC finished seventh in his first year and are sat ninth in the 2026 table with three wins and four losses after seven rounds.

The Australian has taken charge of 39 games for the club so far, winning 19 of them.

Hull’s chief executive officer Richie Myler said: “John joined the club during a challenging period and has played an important role in restoring stability and competitiveness on the field.

“The board would like to place on record its sincere thanks for John’s contribution during his time with the club.

Cartwright has been a guest on The Bench with Jenna and Jon

“John will continue to lead the first-team squad for the remainder of the current campaign, and has the support of the full club as we work together to finish the season as strongly as possible.”

The club also confirmed they are in the process of securing a head coach for the 2027 Super League season and will provide an update in due course.

2026 Super League – key dates and what to look out for

  • Super League in Paris: Sat Jun 6: Catalans Dragons v Wigan Warriors (Paris), 6:30 UK (Sky Sports)
  • Magic Weekend: July 4-July 5
  • Rivals Round reversed: July 23-July 26
  • Elimination Play-offs: September 19-September 20
  • Play-off semi-finals: September 26-September 27
  • Grand Final: October 3, Old Trafford.
