NWSL Recruits New Business and Marketing Leaders

The National Women’s Soccer League is bolstering its executive ranks with two key hires as the league continues its rapid growth.

The NWSL announced Wednesday that Brian Kelly will join as chief commercial officer and Rachel Epstein as chief marketing officer. Kelly begins immediately, while Epstein is set to start later this month.

The appointments come as the 2026 season opens with strong momentum, including rising viewership, record attendance and a landmark crowd of 63,004 for Denver Summit FC’s inaugural home opener at Empower Field at Mile High.

Commissioner Jessica Berman called the hires “critical” to the league’s next phase of growth, citing both executives’ experience in scaling sports properties and building fan engagement.

“Throughout the search, it became clear that Brian and Rachel are uniquely equipped to help shape the next chapter of the league as we continue to accelerate our growth, expand our global footprint and elevate the league’s cultural and commercial impact. We are proud to welcome them to the league and look forward to seeing the impact they make,” said Berman.

Kelly joins from Top Rank Boxing, where he served as chief revenue officer, overseeing partnerships, sponsorships and media rights. His résumé also includes senior roles at Bleacher Report, Turner Sports and CBS Sports.

Epstein arrives from ESPN, where she was vice president of live sports and audience expansion. She led marketing efforts across major properties, including the WNBA and NWSL, and previously helped launch Women’s Professional Soccer.

The league also announced additional front office moves: Jessica Goldstein joins as vice president of partnership management and solutions, while Meg Buchan and Carlin Hudson have been promoted to vice president roles in broadcast and strategy, respectively.

In their new roles, Kelly will oversee revenue-driving areas including media, partnerships and licensing, while Epstein will lead brand strategy and fan engagement as the NWSL looks to further expand its global reach.
