Range Sports has acquired Short Game Chef, a subscription service that provides golf instruction. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Short Game Chef was founded by Parker McLachlin, a former PGA Tour winner and provides resources to help golfers of all levels improve where it matters most –inside 100 yards. Short Game Chef offers a library of more than 300 exclusive videos, regular content updates, structured lessons, tour-level strategies and techniques.
The service has built a base of over 3,000 members since it was established in November 2022.
“We have been working with Parker for seven years now and have been consistently impressed by his dedication to helping golfers play smarter and master the scoring zone,” said Jeremy Moore, head of golf at Range Sports, in a prepared statement. “It’s inspiring to see how he turned his unparalleled short game prowess into a dynamic business with Short Game Chef, and Range is thrilled to now help him continue to grow it.”
Range Sports will work to expand the platform’s offering through content, platform upgrades, new customer acquisition tactics, and off-platform monetization strategies.
Earlier this year, Range Sports announced the acquisition of the live experiences company Superfly, in a move aimed at part bolstering its brand consulting practice with experiential marketing services.
“The acquisition of Short Game Chef is one of the first building blocks of our larger strategy to build new assets and IP in partnership with our clients,” said Greg Luckman and Will Funk, co-presidents of Range Sports, in a statement. “With Range’s robust capabilities and entrepreneurial culture, we are uniquely positioned to scale SGC and be at the forefront of additional athlete-led businesses and media platforms.”
