Jimmy Fallon Hosts ‘SNL’ Reunion With Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers

Old friends are sometimes the best (and funniest) friends. At least it looked that way Wednesday night when Jimmy Fallon welcomed a trio of his Saturday Night Live peers to the Studio 6B set of The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in New York for some skits, laughs and shared memories.

The reunion was for good reason. The alums gathered just days ahead of the much anticipated SNL50: The Anniversary Special airing in primetime on NBC and Peacock on Sunday. And they showed off some of the skills they honed during their respective runs on the iconic sketch show by participating in a “Tonight Show Joke Off,” a riff on SNL’s “Weekend Update” segment during which they battled it out for the best punchlines.

Fey and Poehler, who have a Restless Leg tour scheduled for spring and summer, then stuck around to join Fallon in the chairs for a chat about the upcoming special. They reminisced about their days, late nights and early mornings on SNL, how Poehler replaced Fallon to join Fey on the “Weekend Update” desk, and their gratitude for being a part of the legacy of Lorne Michaels’ show.

Fallon teased “crazy stuff” happening to kick off the anniversary weekend on Friday night at Radio City Music Hall where he will be on stage hosting the SNL50: The Homecoming Concert, streaming live on Peacock. Executive produced by Michaels and Mark Ronson, the concert will feature performances from Arcade Fire, Backstreet Boys, Bad Bunny, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard, Chris Martin, David Byrne, DEVO, Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Jelly Roll, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Mumford & Sons, Post Malone, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Robyn, The B-52’s, The Roots and more.

As previously announced, SNL50: The Anniversary Special will feature a roster of A-list guests, including Five-Timers Club members Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Simon, Martin Short and Woody Harrelson, along with Adam Driver, Ayo Edebiri, Bad Bunny, Dave Chappelle, John Mulaney, Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Paul McCartney, Pedro Pascal, Peyton Manning, Quinta Brunson, Robert De Niro and Sabrina Carpenter.

Also popping up will be close to two dozen current and former castmembers like Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, Laraine Newman, Kenan Thompson, Fred Armisen, Pete Davidson, Will Ferrell, Will Forte, Kate McKinnon, Tracy Morgan, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, Andy Samberg, Adam Sandler, Molly Shannon, Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig, among others. The live three-hour telecast from Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center will air on NBC and stream live on Peacock at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST.
