Independent distributor Black Bear is partnering with Letterboxd to bring the platform’s popular “Four Favorites” format to audiences across the country.
The collaboration is tied to the release of “Tuner,” Black Bear’s upcoming thriller, which stars Leo Woodhall as “a gifted piano tuner whose precision leads him to uncover an unexpected talent for cracking safes, pulling him into a dangerous new world.”
The Letterboxd-led initiative features a live in-theater experience designed to engage audiences and create conversation around the film, as viewers discover the movie and share their opinions.
The “Tuner” tour will stop at three festivals, kicking off with the opening night of the Miami Film Festival on April 9, and then making stops at the Phoenix Film Festival on April 17 and the Philadelphia Film Society’s SpringFest on April 19. At each stop, attendees will have the opportunity to record their “Four Favorites” at a co-branded installation, supported by on-site integrations, exclusive giveaways, and custom content social frames.
The partnership will continue to run through an extensive festival schedule, making appearances at the San Francisco International Film Festival, Opening Night at the Boulder Film Festival, and campus screenings at the University of Southern California, Chapman University, and the Savannah College of Art and Design. Audiences will be encouraged to join Letterboxd and share their “Tuner” review following the screenings.
“Tuner” is written by Daniel Roher and Robert Ramsey and directed by Academy Award-winner Daniel Roher. Havana Rose Liu, Dustin Hoffman, Tovah Feldshuh, Lior Raz, and Jean Reno are set to star alongside Woodhall.
Following film festival premieres at Telluride, Toronto, Sundance and BFI London, “Tuner” opens May 22 in New York and Los Angeles in select theaters and nationwide on May 29.
