Xavier Samuel has joined the upcoming Amazon Prime Video cop thriller series “Bishop” in a series regular role, Variety has learned.
Samuel will appear alongside previously announced series lead Joel Kinnaman and fellow cast members John Malkovich, Jordana Brewster, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Harry Treadaway.
The official logline for the show states, “Homicide detective Bishop Graves (Kinnaman) – brilliant, battle-scarred – will put all of his skills to the test in the hunt for an elusive killer targeting San Francisco’s moneyed class. As this increasingly audacious killer develops a devoted following among the city’s powerless, Bishop becomes convinced these murders connect back to SF’s most powerful man, his own father, Lincoln Graves (Malkovich).”
Samuel will play Anthony “Ant” Graves, who is Bishop’s younger brother.
Samuel recently appeared in the successful Sam Raimi survival thriller film “Send Help” opposite Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, which debuted in theaters in January. He has also been in films like “Elvis,” “Blonde,” “Twilight: Eclipse” in the role of Riley Biers, and “Love & Friendship.” In television, he has starred in several dramas in his native Australia, including “Seven Types of Ambiguity,” the Netflix series “Apple Cider Vinegar,” and the Amazon Prime Video show “Tell Me Your Secrets.”
He is repped by UTA, Entertainment 360, Shanahan Management, and Independent Talent.
“Bishop” hails from co-creators and executive producers Little Marvin and Tony Saltzman, with Little Marvin also serving as showrunner. Roy Lee will also executive produce along with Miri Yoon of Vertigo. Amazon MGM Studios, where Little Marvin is under an overall deal, will produce.
