“Grey’s Anatomy” has been renewed for its 23rd season on ABC.
The series, which was created by Shonda Rhimes and debuted 2005, is the longest running primetime medical drama on television. In 2025, it was the No. 1 most-streamed series across Disney+ and Hulu, and Nielsen recorded it as the No. 2 most-streamed series in the U.S. across all platforms.
“Grey’s Anatomy” stars Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey; Meredith was the show’s central character until Pompeo took a step back during Season 19, though she continues her work as show’s narrator, makes on-screen guest appearances and serves as an executive producer.
The Season 23 renewal makes “Grey’s Anatomy” part of a 2026-2027 lineup for ABC that includes Season 10 of “9-1-1,” Season 2 of “9-1-1: Nashville,” Season 6 of “Abbott Elementary” and Season 3 of “High Potential.”
