But after coming to terms with the initial blow, Barry emphasized he was lucky to be delivered the bad news sooner rather than later.
“They don’t even know how long I had this thing sitting on me,” Barry added. “It could have been years. If it had gone any further, then I would be up s–t’s creek. It just so happened that it hadn’t spread, and boy oh boy, I thought I might be dying.”
Now, the Tony, Grammy and Emmy winner is excited to get back to his normal, as he is set to release his album What a Time this June and—pending any health setbacks—resume his farewell tour soon enough.
“This really rocked me,” Barry admitted, “but I’m getting stronger.”
