‘Hoppers’ Holds No. 1 at U.K., Ireland Box Office


Disney’s “Hoppers” held the No. 1 position at the U.K. and Ireland box office for a second weekend, adding £2.3 million ($3.1 million) and bringing its total to £7.7 million ($10.3 million), according to Comscore.

Universal’s “Reminders of Him” debuted in second place with $1.4 million, marking the top new entry of the frame. Studiocanal’s “How to Make a Killing” followed closely in third, opening with $1.2 million.

Entertainment Film Distributors’ “Mother’s Pride” placed fourth in its second weekend, grossing $802,000 for a cumulative $2.7 million. Warner Bros.’ “Wuthering Heights” continued its steady run in fifth, adding $711,000 to reach $32.3 million in total.

Paramount’s “Scream 7” moved to sixth in its third weekend with $655,000, lifting its cumulative to $9.5 million. Sony’s “GOAT” followed in seventh place with $336,000, pushing its total to $16.9 million.

Universal’s “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert” ranked eighth with $236,000 for a $4.5 million total, while Warner Bros.’ “The Bride!” took ninth place with $235,000, reaching $1.7 million.

Rounding out the top 10, Mubi’s “The Secret Agent” added $104,000 in its fourth weekend, bringing its cumulative to $1.5 million.

The late-March frame is one of the most crowded of the year so far, led by Sony’s wide release “Project Hail Mary,” directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and starring Ryan Gosling.

Disney has genre sequel “Ready or Not 2: Here I Come,” while Kaleidoscope Entertainment targets family audiences with animated feature “The Land of Sometimes,” voiced by Ewan McGregor, Helena Bonham Carter and Asa Butterfield, also opening wide. Universal drama “Midwinter Break,” while Signature Entertainment rolls out psychological thriller “The Good Boy,” starring Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough.

Vertigo Releasing launches Gus Van Sant’s “Dead Man’s Wire,” starring Bill Skarsgård, Al Pacino and Colman Domingo, while Picturehouse Entertainment releases Ugo Bienvenu’s animated feature “Arco,” with a voice cast including Will Ferrell and Natalie Portman.

Indian titles continue to feature prominently, with Moviegoers Entertainment’s “Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” starring Ranveer Singh, opening across 100-plus locations, alongside “Ustaad Bhagat Singh.” The week also includes a wide array of independent and international fare such as Vue Lumière’s “Broken English,” Munro’s “Apnas” and “Don’t Be Prey” and 606’s “Abode.”

Repertory and event cinema remain a key component. Park Circus marks the 25th anniversary of “Moulin Rouge,” while Arrow Films brings John Woo’s “The Killer” back in 4K. Earlier in the week, Disney reissues “The Revenant” for its 10th anniversary, and MusicScreen presents “Lohengrin – Wagner.”
