Mickey Rourke Evicted From Home After Not Paying $60K in Rent

Mickey Rourke has been evicted from his Los Angeles home after failing to pay nearly $60,000 in back rent.

Earlier this week, the Los Angeles County Superior Court ruled in favor of Rourke’s landlord in an unlawful detainer case, according to People. The outlet, which broke the news, reported that Rourke’s landlord, Eric T. Goldie, was granted possession of the Drexel Avenue property after Rourke did not respond to the complaint or appear to defend himself. The court ruled that the rental agreement was canceled, the lease was forfeited and Rourke can no longer occupy the house legally. Goldie’s claim was for possession of the home, not being awarded financial damages.

The eviction comes after Rourke was served a notice in December to pay $59,100 in back rent or vacate the home within three days. The news of Rourke’s legal troubles spread after it appeared that he started a GoFundMe in early January to raise the money in order to avoid eviction. However, Rourke soon denied involvement in the GoFundMe, and someone claiming to be an assistant to his manager appeared to be behind the fundraiser. The GoFundMe raised $100,000 for Rourke.

“Somebody set up some kind of foundation or fund for me to donate money, like in a charity, and that’s not me, OK? If I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no fucking charity. I’d rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger,” Rourke said in a video posted to Instagram. “Whoever did this, I don’t know why they did it, I don’t understand it. I wouldn’t know what a GoFund foundation is in a million years. You know, my life is very simple, I don’t go to outside sources like that. And yeah, it is embarrassing, but I’m sure I’ll get over it like anything else.”
