Tracy Zamot, Publicist for Atlantic and Virgin Records, Dies at 55

Tracy Zamot, a veteran publicist who worked for Atlantic, Virgin and Motown Records, Pandora Radio and others, has died after a long illness, her family has confirmed. No specific cause of death was announced; she was 55.

A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, Zamot’s joined Atlantic Records as a tour publicist in 1992 and rose to vice president over the course of her decade with the company, which saw her work closely with such artists as Matchbox 20 and Rob Thomas, Genesis and Phil Collins, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, and many others.

She left Atlantic in late 2001 to join Virgin Records, which at the time was run by her former Atlantic colleague Jason Flom. There, she worked closely the such acts as Lenny Kravitz, Gorillaz, Iggy Pop and others. A two year stint with Universal Motown Records followed next.

She returned to high-profile roles in 2015 when she joined Pandora Radio, serving there for nearly three years before a brieft stint at SiriusXM. She worked independently for the next several years before joining the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music in 2022.

Zamot was a friend, co-worker, associate and even a neighbor of this writer for more than 30 years. She was a funny and intelligent person and no-nonsense publicist whose good cheer and uproarious laughter will be sorely missed.

Her husband of 26 years, John Loscalzo, who had worked at CBS Radio, MTV and other companies, passed away in 2015 at the age of just 52. The two leave behind a teenaged daughter.
