Benedict Cumberbatch is walking back some previous comments that he made about his next appearance as Doctor Strange.

The 48-year-old actor last suited up as the iconic hero in 2022′s Doctor Strange in the Multi-Verse of Madness, his second stand-alone movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During a recent interview, Benedict confirmed that he was coming back for another Avengers movie. However, he said that he would not be appearing in 2026′s Avengers: Doomsday.

Now, he’s telling a different story.

Speaking to Business Insider, Benedict said that he actually would be in Doomsday.

“I got that wrong, I am in the next one,” he told the outlet, who asked if Marvel was upset about the potential spoiler.

While the actor did confirm his involvement with the movie, he also told fans, “Don’t ever believe anything I say.”

So is he in Avengers: Doomsday? His reps did not return a request for official confirmation. We’ll update you as we learn more.

Benedict previously told Variety that Doctor Strange was simply “not aligning” with the Doomsday story. However, he added that he would be “quite central” to the follow-up Avengers: Secret Wars, which is due in 2027.

He also addressed a third Doctor Strange solo movie.

Avengers: Doomsday will officially bring back some very big Marvel stars.
