Anne: What’s happening with Chloe Kelly? She is far too good to be sitting on the bench.
Emma: My information regarding Chloe Kelly’s future is the same as it was a few weeks ago. I believe Kelly is still very keen for a move – most likely a loan – as she wants game time to secure her spot in the England squad at Euro 2025.
Manchester City were always reluctant to lose her to a rival in the WSL, making a loan move more difficult, and with their current injuries it may be too risky to let her go elsewhere. I’m not aware of anything changing on that front but it is definitely a situation I’m monitoring closely.
Layla: Would Kelly to Manchester United even make sense given that United have strength where she could potentially play?
Emma: I have not personally been told of any interest in Kelly from United. However, I agree – United have plenty of attacking options and I don’t see the benefit for either party.
Robin: I think a great move for Chloe would be Brighton. She’s got Nikita Parris and Fran Kirby there, they’d link up well and she’d get the minutes she needs. Do you agree?
Emma: I do agree Robin and sources told me at the start of the month that Brighton were among the clubs who had enquired about Chloe Kelly’s situation. However, I don’t believe anything transpired from that.
Brighton are still looking to see if they can bring in top players on a good deal. They are happy with their squad generally, so they are looking at players who can take them to the next level. I would not rule out Brighton doing some late business, but I’m not aware of anything currently.
